At the beginning of 2024 I set out to learn more about Queer history in East Texas. I was inspired by organizations like the NYC Trans Oral History Project and Pride Portraits to create a resource that people can view to learn more about Queer people in East Texas. Since then, I’ve met and recorded the stories of 10 amazing Queer East Texans!
I am working with Invisible Histories through the Memory Keepers Project (IHNK) to archive oral histories in their database. (Stay tuned)
Thank you to everyone who helped me create this project and supported me in this process. And a special thank you to all of the lovely people that have contributed to The Queer Joy Project this year: Simeon, Layla, Eric, Karen, Brenda, Lou Anne, Al, Bunny, and Sam.
This project has been one of my greatest joys this year and I am looking forward to what 2025 holds. Please reach out to me if you want to be featured on this page, learn more about this project, hear about the Memory Keepers Project, or just to chat!
